Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrashekar Rao has asked officials of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to complete the power lines to connect Southern States with the North East West Grid. If the connectivity is established between the Southern states and NEW Grid, it will be possible to coordinate the demand and supply of power all over the country, the Chief Minister said.

PGCIL Chairman Sri I S. Jha, Southern Region ED Sri Sekhar, Genco CMD Sri D. Prabhakar Rao have met the Chief Minister at Pragathi Bhavan here on Tuesday. In this context, the Chief Minister has asked the officials concerned to complete the power lines between Wardha (Maharashtra) and Dichpally to get power supply from the Chattisgarh State to Telangana State. To this, the PGCIL officials told the CM that they would be completing the line by this March.

If 765 KV double Circuit line of 4,500 MW capacity is completed, the Telangana State will able to get the power supply from the Chattisgarh State, the CM said. He also wanted works on Warangal-Warora (Maharashtra) power line also be taken up immediately. If the two lines, Wardha-Dichpally and Warangal-Warora lines are completed then power can be received and supplied between the Southern Grid and NEW Grid. As a result, there will be coordination among various places in the country, the CM observed.

Meanwhile, the PGCIL has expressed its interest to invest in the Transmission projects in the State. The CM wanted officials from the State electricity department and PGCIL to hold talks in this regard. Deputy CM Sri Mohamed Ali, Principal Advisor Sri Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary Sri SP. Singh, Senior officials Sri S. Narsing Rao, Sri Ramakrishna Rao, Ms Shanthi Kumari, Ms Smita Sabharwal and others participated.
