Telangana JAC chairman Kodandaram arrested 22-02-2017

Hyderabad 22-02-2017: Telangana JAC Chairman, Kodandaram was arrested by the police early in the morning as the JAC prepares to go ahead with its rally in the city protesting against the delay in filling up vacancies in the Government and a few other demands.

A team of police headed by East Zone DCP, Ravinder went to Mr. Kodandaram’s residence in Taraka at 3 am and requested him to surrender. However, Mr Kodandaram and a few other JAC leaders questioned the timing of police’s visit to his house and asked them to come at 6 am when they can arrest him. But the police officials argued that they have the right to take anyone into preventive custody at anytime.

The angry JAC leaders said such suppression was not seen even during Telangana agitation and the police did not visit his house when permission was not granted for his programmes.

Even as the arguments were on police broke open the doors and arrested him. Hundreds of JAC activists were also picked up from various places in the city. Similarly, activists coming to the city for the unemployed rally were arrested in the districts.
