Noted Telangana folk poet and lyricist of popular songs including ‘Nenu Raanu Biddo Sarkaaru Davakhaanaku’ and ‘Jara Bhadam Koduko, Koduko Komranna’ Guda Anjaiah died of heart ailment at his house here on Tuesday.

Born in Lingapuram in Adilabad district in 1955, Guda Anjaiah had penned hundreds of songs only on the tears and travails of the downtrodden sections of society. His popular songs and books including Polimera novel were translated into several languages.

Most popular of his songs ‘Vooru Manadira, Yee Vaada Manadira…’ was used in Erra Sainyam of Narayana Murthy. Also known as Anjanna, he had also worked for Telangana cultural organization and actively participated in 1969 Telangana movement as a student.

Anjaiah was discharged from NIMS a fortnight back after a major treatment for heart and paralysis but his condition started deteriorating in last couple of days and he died on Tuesday afternoon.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed deep shock over the death of the poet and conveyed his condolences to the bereeved family.
