The Krishna pushkaram – a river fete observed once in 12 years for a period of 12 days – began in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Friday, with both the Chief Ministers inaugurating it in Krishna and Mahboobnagar districts respectively.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu took a holy bath in the river here on Friday along with his family members, marking the inauguration of the event in the State. In Telangana, his counterpart, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, also took the bath in the river at the Gondhimalla ghat in Mahboobnagar district.
There was a huge convergence of pilgrims from the both the states here on Friday and the authorities made the requisite arrangements for providing the facilities. There was a huge rush at Ibrahimpatnam near here where the Godavari waters join the Krishna and the confluence is considered sacred.
