Telangana to look for global investors, says KTR

Hyderabad: Government of Telangana over the last 38 months has worked extensively in the area of policy formulation, business reforms and ease of doing business in the State.

Stating that Telangana is one of the top five exporting States of India, Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, addressing the members of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), said, the government has identified 14 key sectors of focus which includes life sciences, bulk drugs, chemicals, new age medical devices and IT among others.

Telangana’s growth in IT exports is at 14 per cent which is 5 per cent above the national average. He also said that the State of Telangana is the fastest growing economy with a growth rate of 18 to 19 per cent. He also talked about the need of the emerging technologies and continuous improvement to seize new opportunities in Telangana.

Telangana is home to T-Hub, India’s largest startup incubator and now working on its expansion plans to roll out T-Hub phase II which is expected to be the world’s largest start up incubator.

Another feather in the cap for the State would be the launch of T-Works which is largest prototyping lab in India.

The State is formulating an electric vehicle policy and will roll out seeking investments in this space. Another key area, KTR touched upon is the Aerospace and Defence sector which is turning out to be a hot sector for investments. He also stressed that several major technology companies have made Hyderabad their home such as Google, Facebook, Apple, Amazon apart from Microsoft, which have set up their largest bases outside their headquarters.

He articulated that competition should be global and not among Indian states citing the example of Apple which made a decision in investing in Hyderabad after scanning 26 cities across the globe.

Confederation of Indian Industry – Southern Regional Council Members interacted with the Minister here on how industry can work with Government towards further economic growth in the State.

Vikram Kirloskar, chairman, CII Southern Region, V Rajanna, chairman, CII Telangana State Council, Sanjay K Singh, Vice Chairman, CII Telangana State Council, other captains of industry and CEOs from six regions-AP, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Telangana interacted with the Minister.
