Telangana govt has given given freehand to cops, says Etela

Karimnagar: Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Etela Rajender informed that the State government has given freehand to police department to keep anti-social elements under check. Steps have also been taken to put an end to goondaism, land grabbing and other illegal activities, the Minister said after inaugurating Lake-Police outpost on the Bypass Road near Lower Manair Dam here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajender informed that government was going ahead with an agenda acceptable for all sections of the society. The government was also striving hard to develop confidence in law enforcement among the public, he said. Karimnagar police under the aegis of Police Commission VB Kamalasan Reddy was going ahead with innovative programmes, he said and added that crime rate in the commissionerate limits has come down.

Calling up the cops to be ready to face future challenges, he assured that public representatives would not interfere in the duties of police while taking action against anti-social elements. Compared to other States, the performance of Telangana police was excellent, he opined and added that Karimangar cops became role model to other districts.

Meanwhile, the Minister assured to develop LMD and its surroundings as a famous tourism spot.

Speaking on the occasion, Police Commissioner Kamalasan Reddy said that Lake Police outpost was set up with Rs 6 lakh allocated by the local MP B Vinod Kumar from his constituency development funds. The Lake Police have curbed illegal activities at LMD, Deer Park, Ujwala Park and its surrounding, especially women are now able to move easily in the areas, he said. At present, there were six closed circuit cameras, CP said and added that another 30 cameras would be installed soon.

Government chief whip Koppula Eashwar, Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma, MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, MLA Gangula Kamalakar, Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor S Ravinder Singh, Commissioner Sheshank and corporators participated in the in the programme.
