Hyderabad: Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan thanked Nizamabad MP K Kavitha for extending her support to accord Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh during her speech in the Parliament recently.

He also announced plans to constitute an expert committee to analyse the AP Reorganisation Act and suggest an action plan for the proposed Joint Political Action Committee in AP.

During her speech on the Union Budget in Lok Sabha on Thursday, MP Kavitha expressed support to ‘Andhra brothers’ of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress Party demanding special status. She also demanded that all the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana should be fulfilled. “Governance is a continuous process irrespective of which party is in power,” she said.

Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan said: “I thank you from the bottom of my heart. ‘Chellelu Kavitha gariki’ (TRS MP) for her support to the people of AP regarding the ‘pledged words & promises’ made by the Centre in the Parliament at the time of state bifurcation (sic)”.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, Pawan pointed out that his party along with a few others had been saying that special package was a regular ‘State package’ where funds were given as per devolution method as the State’s right.

Emphasising the need for a Joint Fact Finding Committee, Pawan said the committee comprising economists, financial experts, former public servants, academicians, scholars, socio-political leaders would probe into conflicting and contradictory statements of the State and the Central governments. “The committee will objectively analyse AP Reorganisation Act promises without any personal, political or ideological bias. Based on that report, political action will be decided by Joint Political Action Committee (JPAC),” he added.
