Nalgonda Collector asks officials for proposals for new fiscal

Nalgonda: Collector Gaurav Uppal on Wednesday directed officials to prepare proposals for the implementation of different schemes for Below Poverty Line families belonging to the SC community for the financial year 2018-19.

Speaking at the stakeholders’ meeting conducted by the SC Corporation, Uppal said that there was a need to get the State government’s approval for the proposals to implement different schemes in the financial year 2018-19 and added that officials should immediately prepare the proposals to send them to the State government.

He also underlined the need to take special care to ensure that the benefits of the different schemes reach the poor and said that special measures would be taken up to spread awareness among the rural masses on the different programmes and schemes being implemented by the State government fo their benefit.

Representatives of dalit organisations alleged that the genuine beneficiaries were being denied the benefits of financial assistance schemes due to the attitude of the bankers. The loans of the SC Corporation should be extended to the beneficiaries without any link to the banks, they suggested, and urged the government to increase the loan amount to Rs 5 lakh from Rs 1 lakh. They demanded the setting up of a committee to monitor the implementation of the schemes for SCs.

District Revenue Officer Kheemya Naik, Joint Director of Agriculture Narsinga Rao and Executive Director of SC Corporation and others attended the meeting.
