KCR okays new pattadar passbook designs

Hyderabad: Design of the high-security pattadar passbook was cleared by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. It will feature the pictures of Kakatiya arch, Charminar and images depicting major irrigation projects and farmers in the fields.

Also to adorn the passbooks are images of smiling women belonging to families of farmers besides other security features such as barcode, QR code, unique ID and fingerprint of farmer.

The State IT Department on Saturday signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Security Printing Press of India to supply around 71 lakh new passbooks within the time. The State government has decided to distribute new passbooks on March 11 in all the villages in the State at a time.

It is to recall that the government had completed land purification drive under phase-I and announced that new farmer-friendly pattadar passbooks will be given to farmers.

Chief Commissioner of Land Revenue Vakati Karuna told to Telangana Today that the MoU was signed by the IT Department after shortlisting the tenders. “We are confident that the passbooks will be ready as per schedule,” Karuna said.

After the Cabinet’s approval for printing of new passbooks under short circulation method, the MoU was signed on Saturday. According to the sources, the passbook printing would be carried out simultaneously in four major security printing presses in the country- Hyderabad (Telangana), Dewas (Madhya Pradesh), Nashik (Maharashtra) and Noida (Uttar Pradesh).

As per the MoU, all four printing presses will print around 2.5 lakh pattadar passbooks per day.

Special features of passbook
The new dark green 20-page passbooks will have 18 security features with six columns. It will have barcode, QR code, fingerprint and unique ID number compressing State, district, mandal and village codes. (For eg TK indicates – Telangana – Karimnagar district). It will also have farmer’s bank account number, IFSC code, mobile number, land map and transactions details.
