Warangal will soon turn green, says Harish Rao

Jayashankar Bhupalpally: Each acre in the erstwhile Warangal district will soon get the irrigation facility, and even the tail-end areas will not be left without water, said Irrigation minister T Harish Rao. The Minister, along with Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari and Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary launched revival works of the SRSP canal (DBM 38) at Regonda  in the district on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that State government was reviving Irrigation Development Corporation (IDC) lifts schemes and SRSP canals to provide water to the tail-end areas as they were completely neglected in the past.  Stating that the construction works of the Kaleshwaram project are going on at high speed,  Harish Rao said that the works that generally take seven to eight years  would be completed in a record time of 20 months. “Even the officials of the Central Water Commission (CWC) have appreciated us saying that the works of no other project are moving this fast as of Kaleshawaram ” he said and added that the Kaleswaram water would be supplied to Bhupalpally constituency by rainy season.

Rao said that all the tanks in the erstwhile Warnagal district would be filled with the Devadula water, and  added that the motors of the Devadula would start working for this season from Sankranti. Speaking on the measures being taken for the development of the farmers, he said that the government had waived the crop loans and also constructed  godowns with a capacity of 18 lakh metric tonnes.

“We are also providing 24–hour power supply to the farm sector. And we are going to offer Rs 4,000 per acre  for crop to the farmers from the coming rainy season (Kharif),” he said.

Lambasting the Opposition Congress, Harish Rao said that the Congress leaders were best at only conducting the press meets. Saying that the Congress has never tried to resolve the issues of the people, he asked the Congress leaders to leave Gandhi Bhavan and go to the public to know if the people were with the Congress or the TRS. He said that the farmers suffered a lot due to shortage of power, fertiliser and seeds during the Congress rule.

Speaking about the water facility to the Bhupalpally constituency, he criticised former MLA and chief whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy for his failure to provide irrigation to the fields in Bhupalpally constituency. “In the past, there was no water even to 300 acres from Devadula, but now the TRS government is providing water to 30,000 acres in Bhupalpally constituency,” Harish Rao said. He said that the TRS would remain in power for another 20 years as the TRS was striving to resolve the people’s issues. He also said that a check dam would be constructed between Peddapally and Bhupalpally.

Deputy CM Kadiam Srihari said that CM KCR was striving to provide water to one crore acres. He also praised Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary for his interest for the Chenchus and Rajannala people. He alleged that Congress leaders had diverted hundreds of crores of public money during their rule. He said that the TRS is able to supply 24 –hours power to the farming sector because of the formation of Telanagan State.
