Telangana purchasing power from Raipur at Rs 3.90 per unit: Etela

Karimnagar: Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Etela Rajender said power was being purchased from Raipur by spending Rs 3.90 per unit to fulfill the government’s promise of supplying 24 hours electricity to agriculture sector which was started from December 31 midnight.

Participating in various developmental programmes in Huzurabad Constituency, Rajender said successive governments did not bother about the problems faced by farmers. Moreover, per day, agriculture sector used to get only two to three hours electricity. As a result, standing crops used to wither and subsequently leading farmers into debt traps.

To put an end to such practice, after formation of Telangana, government decided to supply round-the-clock electricity to farmers, he said and added that Telangana had become a model State in the entire country by introducing various welfare schemes.

Talking about his own constituency, the Minister promised to turn Huzurabad as a model segment in the State by developing it in all fronts. Promising to construct double bedroom houses for all eligible families, he assured to lay CC roads in all villages.

Referring to previous governments’ remarks that it was not possible to supply electricity for 24 hours, local MP B Vinod Kumar said Telangana government had made it possible. State would have surplus power in future, he said and added that State was moving on development path.
