Officials asked to complete Mission Bhagiratha by March

Nalgonda: District Collector Gaurav Uppal on Tuesday directed the officials of departments concerned to complete the intra village works, construction of overhead tanks and laying of pipelines of Mission Bhagiratha programme by March.

Uppal held a meeting with the officials of Rural Water Supply (RWS) and contractors, and reviewed the progress of works in the district.

The Collector said State government was according top priority to Mission Bhagiratha, which was aimed at supplying safe drinking water to every house in all the villages in the State.

He asked the contractors to complete the works within the time fixed in the agreement. He instructed officials to respond quickly and resolve problems if any arise in the execution of works.

Stating that sand would be supplied to the house of the applicants from February 8, the Collector said nine sand reaches were identified for implementation of sand taxi system in the district.

In all, 75 tractors were registered for the purpose of sand taxi system, three cubic meters of sand would be supplied through each tractor. The price of the sand would be fixed based on the distance of delivery place.

Forthwith, tahsildars should not issue permissions for sand transport, he added. The sand would be delivered to the address of the candidate, who would apply for sand online or through Mee Seva Centres, he added.

He also made it clear that priority would be give to the supply of sand for the purpose of government’s works in sand transport system also.

Joint Collector C Narayana Reddy, District Revenue Officer Kheemya Naik, RWS Executive Engineer Papa Rao and others attended the review meeting.
