‘Kalyanalakshmi cheques should reach on time’

Hyderabad: BC Welfare Secretary B Venkatesam on Friday conducted a video conference with District Collectors and asked them about the status of the welfare schemes initiated by the State government.

BC Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna also took part in the meeting from the Adilabad District Collectorate. During the meeting, the Secretary told the Collectors to play a key role in implementing welfare programmes. The government had also initiated measures to release Rs 102 crore to the beneficiaries as soon as possible.

“We must ensure that cheques being disbursed as part of the Kalyanalakshmi scheme reach the beneficiaries on the day of their marriage. Officials must also inspect the works of the welfare hostels and convene a meeting every fortnight,” said Ramanna. He also asked the officials to come up with a roster of all the beneficiaries of the schemes and update them from time to time.

“The temporary structures that would house the residential schools must be finalised and we must also devise a method to expand the study centres. We must select the students based on their merits by January 31,” said Venkatesham.
