Jupally Krishna Rao seeks more EGS work days

Hyderabad: Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development (PR&RD) Jupally Krishna Rao requested Union Secretary for Rural Development to sanction additional two crore work days under Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS).

The Minister met Union Secretary Amarjeeth Sinha at National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Rajendranagar, on Friday. During the meeting, Rao explained that the State government was giving due priority to EGS works and all job card holders were provided employment in every village. “Our target is to provide 100-day work to each job card holder in the State hence we need additional work days,” the Minister said.

During the discussion, the Minister also wanted the Central government to release Rs 725 crore funds under material component which was pending with the Centre under the scheme. The duo also discussed Rurban and Palle Pragathi programmes implementing in the State.
