Crime rate in Kumram Bheem Asifabad goes up slightly

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: The crime rate of Kumram Bheem Asifabad slightly went up in 2017 despite a slew of measures taken by cops. It registered 1,800 offenses as against 1,776 reported in 2016 and 1,653 of 2015. But, road accidents and crimes against women saw a dip in the recently concluded year. Superintendent of Police Kalmeshwar Shingenawar disclosed this to pressmen in Asifabad on Tuesday.

Kalmeshwar said that cops would strive hard for providing better policing in the year 2018. He informed that steps would be taken to prevent recurrence of crimes reported in the previous year. Special teams and a Task Force is going to be formed for curbing different menaces and for keeping the tab on illegal activities such as trading of gutka and transportation of liquor.

VPO Desk in each Gram Panchayat

The IPS officer stated that village police officer (VPO) desk would be created in every gram panchayat in order to ensure visibility of police. Information with regard to challenges of rural parts would be gathered, besides maintaining a general diary by the VPO, he explained. A special Action plan is being prepared for rendering services of police in all villages.

The SP asserted that every police station would be equipped with a breath analyzer for detecting drunk and drive cases. By Installing GPS technology, police vehicles are going to be linked with a command control centre to be erected in district headquarters. A WhatsApp number, twitter handle and Facebook account would be created for enabling citizens to report their grievances.

The SP further said that that weekly-off system would be implemented for easing the workload of cops and special holidays would be given to policemen during their birthdays and wedding anniversaries. Peace committees were formed for preventing communal clashes in the wake of the recent feud between Adivasis and Lamabadas, he added.
