By-election: TRS intensifies campaign in 44th ward

Warangal Urban: With a view to regain the 44th ward in the by-election for the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), the TRS leaders led by Warangal East MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar have intensified election campaign in the division.

The leaders including Telangana Vikalagula Cooperative Corporation (TVCC) chairman K Vasudeva Reddy, Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) chairman Marri Yadava Reddy, Warangal West constituency in charge Adavelli Krishna Reddy and State women’s finance corporation chairperson Gundu Sudharani have carried out door-to-door campaign in Prem Nagar colony and other surrounding localities on Tuesday for the party nominee Anisetty Saritha.

They appealed to the voters to sympathise with Saritha as her husband Murali, who got elected as the ward member was murdered a few months ago. The TRS leaders have also said that they had taken up development works in the 44th ward. MP Pasunuri Dayakar Rao also participated in the election campaign on Monday.

Speaking to Telangana Today, TVCC chairman K Vasudeva Reddy said that they were confident of winning the byelection as the people are with TRS candidate Saritha.

“Moreover, the State government is giving 600 Aasara pensions in this ward alone. We are sure that the beneficiaries and their family members would vote for the TRS,” he added.

Following the request of the TRS party, except BJP no other party has fielded its candidate in the by poll.

Though four independent candidates filed their nominations, they too withdrew their nomination following an appeal by the TRS party.

Now, TRS candidate Saritha and BJP nominee K Santhosh Reddy have remained in the fray.

While there are 9,643 voters in the ward, the TRS is expecting at least 4500 votes in the election.

While the polling is scheduled for January 9, the counting of votes will take place on Jan 11.
