Vijaya Dairy to be upgraded with Rs 180 cr in 2018

Hyderabad: The State-owned Vijaya Dairy will be upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore in 2018, said Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. He is scheduled to visit the dairy in the second week of January along with a team to study and resolve issues plaguing dairy industry as well as dairy farmers in the State.

Following an assurance from the Minister on Saturday, Vijaya Dairy Federation employees and workers called off their protests and got back to work with immediate effect. While holding talks with them, the Minister stated that the State government is committed for development of Vijaya Dairy as Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was determined to develop dairy industry on par with agriculture sector.

“Due to his commitment towards dairy farmers’ development, the Chief Minister has enhanced an incentive of Rs 4 per litre for farmers supplying milk to all cooperative society dairies including Vijaya Dairy, Karimnagar Dairy, Mother Dairy and Mulkanoor Dairy,” he added.

He said the State government was spending an additional Rs 125 crore for this incentive.
Srinivas Yadav held talks with the workers and employees on their problems and suggested that they submit a representation to Special Chief Secretary Suresh Chanda who will initiate action for resolving issues. He assured to visit Vijaya Dairy along with a team of officials to study and resolve their problems.

Special Chief Secretary Suresh Chanda, Vijaya Dairy Development Society Chairman Loka Bhumareddy and Managing Director Nirmal and employees were present.
