Warangal: The Zaffergadh police arrested three persons, on Saturday, in connection with acid attack on a woman, Boini Madhuri, who succumbed to the injuries at MGM hospital, Warangal.

The suspects have been identified as Kalava Chandrashekar alias Chandu (21), second husband of Madhuri, and his friends Adepu Anil (19) and Ponnam Rakesh  (21). All are residents of Warangal city, Chandu and Anil are auto rickshaw drivers and Rakesh is a carpenter.

Presenting the trio before media persons at Zaffergadh police station, Wardhannapet ACP Madhusudhan said Chandu with the help of his friends had attacked Madhuri with acid and an ice-cutter with the intention to kill her. He felt Madhuri deceived him, when she got separated from him and started living with her mother.

“Chandu had suspected Madhuri’s fidelity and decided to eliminate her as she had concealed about her first marriage. While Chandu was waiting for an opportunity to kill her, on November 29, Madhuri called him over phone and expressed her willingness to meet him. Cashing on the situation, Chandu took her to Garimillapally in an autorickshaw and poured acid on her, and Anil stabbed her with an ice-cutter,” the ACP said.

It is said that Madhuri used to work at a fuel filling station in Hanamkonda. Chandu, who used to go to the bunk regularly, had fallen in love with Madhuri and married her later.

The ACP said Madhuri’s mother, Gondu Sujatha knew about the second marriage. Madhuri died while undergoing treatment in the hospital on November 30.
