Telangana govt turns Congress leader’s dream into reality

Nalgonda: Deputy leader of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao for their initiative in completing the Udaya Samudram Lift Irrigation Scheme.

Balancing reservoir on Udhayasamudram LI Scheme at his native place, Brahmanavellamla, was Reddy’s dream project. Though it was taken up during the erstwhile YSR government, the Congress government did not show any commitment towards completing the project.

Venkat Reddy inspected the works of the lift irrigation scheme and was upbeat for his dream to be completed in two months. Speaking on the occasion, the CLP deputy leader reminded that then Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy announced the Brahmanavellamla project when he explained about the importance to construct it at the place. But, Kiran Kumar Reddy, who become Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh after the sudden demise of YSR, deliberately showed discrimination towards the project, he said.

“Despite allegations and counter allegations between me and TRS leaders, the State government has shown the commitment towards completing the Udhayasamudram Lift Irrigation Scheme. The Irrigation Minister inspected the works twice and put the officials on track to complete the project within the stipulated time,” Venkat Reddy said.

He felt that his dream project was turning into reality with the kind gesture of the Chief Minister. The government also executed the project without making any changes to its design, which he had suggested, he said. Nakrekal former MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah and local Congress leraders accompanied Venkat Reddy.
