Telangana govt to provide corporate medical facilities for poor Brahmins

Hyderabad: With an intention to provide corporate health services to poor sections among Brahmin community, the State government has offered health insurance schemes, said Brahmin Samkshema Parishad Chairman and advisor to State government KV Ramana Chary here on Thursday.

Speaking to media persons at Secretariat, Ramana Chary said that based on the recommendations of the Brahmin Samkshema Parishad, first general body meeting have decided to provided health insurance scheme for the benefit of Brahmin community who have been left out from the coverage of Aarogyasri Scheme in the State. “The parishad members interacted with the various Brahmin organisations, Sanghams and held negotiations with reputed insurance companies to provide insurance scheme,” said Ramancharay.

Speaking on the occasion, Vanam Jawala Narshimha Rao, vice president, Brahmin Samkshema Parishad said that the National Insurance company has come forward to provide insurance and offered lowest premium of Rs 4,900 for covering four members of a family, out of which Rs 3,900 will be given by the Brahmin Samkshema Parishad and Rs 1,000 by the beneficiaries. The insured family members can get corporate medical facilities in all listed hospitals, he further added.

State representative at New Delhi, S Venugopala Chary said poor Brahim family members aged between 19 to 60 years will be covered under the scheme, “If any one aged 60 or above falls sick, they can be covered under Chief Minister Relief Fund and will be given Rs 5 lakh for the treatment,” he said. To get health insurance cards, applicants can upload income and caste certificate by using online portal, he further stated.

Legislative Council member and Brahmin Samkshema Parishad member Puranam Satish said that for the first time in the history a State has allocated Rs 100 crore for Brahmin Samkshema Parishad in Budget.

After donating Rs 1.16lakh to Akshaya Nidhi which was developed to financially help poor Brahmin families, he requested for more donations. Chakilam Anil Kumar also gave Rs 1.16 lakh as donation to the Akshaya Nidhi during the programme. Parishad Member CL Rajam was also present.
