Telangana govt committed to development of Dalit colonies

Suryapet: The Minister for Power and SC Development G Jagadish Reddy on Sunday vowed to stand Suryapet as an icon for development in the State and added that the State government was committed for the development of Dalit colonies.

Speaking after laying foundation stone for SC Development Community Hall in 19th ward of Suryapet Municipality, Jagadish Reddy said that unity in diversity in the country was become possible only due to the Constitution of India, which was writing by Constitution Drafting Committee headed by Dr B R Ambedkar.  In the Constitution of India, Dr B R Ambekar has included clauses mandating the governments to strive to build a social and economical inequalities free society. But, the successive governments have not followed it in the last 70 years and brought no change in the lives of dalits, he regretted.

The Minister has said that the State government headed by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was working as per the principles and aspirations of Dr Ambedkar.  He felt that implementation of welfare schemes development programmes in Suryapet were best example for it. Stating that Suryapet was witnessed more development in the last three and half hours than of the development during 60 years in united Andhra Pradesh. He challenged the leaders of opposition parties for open debate on it. Double bedroom houses would be allocated to 1800 homeless poor in Suryapet in phased manner, he added.

Another housing scheme on the cards

He reminded that the officials were ensuring transparency in selected the beneficiaries including double bedroom houses scheme. He has also disclosed that the state government was also contemplating to extend Rs.1.5 lakhs to Rs 2 lakhs for construction of additional two rooms to the facilities, which were residing in congested two room houses.

Later, speaking at a meeting organized by Arya Vysya sangam in a function hall to felicitate Soma Bharath Kumar for electing as TRS state general secretary, Jagadish Reddy said that peaceful atmosphere was restored in Suryapet in the last three and half years and preventing the political interference in unnecessary issues has helped him achieving this. The State government was committed ensure water and electricity supply required for industry and business establishments. He opined that irrigation facility would lead to development including business sector.

Stating that the vegetable market, which would be constructed at Suryapet, would remain as role model market in the Country, he exuded confidence that the construction of new vegetable market would complete by April, 2018.     

The Minister has also laid foundation stone for works of modernization of electricity distribution in Suryapet, which have taken up Integrated Power Development Scheme with   Rs 7.39 crores. Suryapet Municipal Chairperson Ganduri Pravallika Prakash, Joint Collector G Sanjeeva Reddy were also present.
