Six-member gang held in Warangal for chain snatching

Warangal Urban: The Central Crime Station (CCS) police have arrested a six-member gang which had committed several chain snatching offences in the city on Sunday .

The gang includes three B.Tech students, one degree student, an Intermediate student (minor) and an auto-rickshaw driver.

The police have recovered Rs 1.60 lakh worth gold chains weighing 64 grams from them, and also seized two bikes used by them to commit the offences.

The suspects have been identified as Penukual Saikiran of Madikonda, Penukula Shravan, degree first year student of Hunter road, Kommineni Manoj Patel, B.Tech final year student of  Danthalapally mandal of Mahabubabad district, Bairi Akil, B.Tech graduate of Ursu Kareemabad,  MD Osman, B.Tech final year study of Charbowli and a minor boy who is reportedly studying Intermediate.

In a press note here on Sunday, Additional DCP (crimes) B Ashok Kumar said that the main accused Saikiran with the help of his relative Shravan, who has several friends, had formed the gang and committed chain snatchings under Hanamkonda Warangal, Subedari and other police stations limits. “The gang’s first offence took place on November 24,” the DCP added.

Meanwhile, police commissioner G Sudheer Babu has appreciated Additional DCP Ashok Kumar, ACP (crimes) Babu Rao and other police staff who had nabbed the gang within a short time.
