Road mishap deaths down by 6% in Warangal

Warangal: Due to concerted efforts and professional policing by the police, fatal road accidents have come down by six per cent and non-fatal accidents have come down by 10 per cent and thereby saving precious lives in 2017 in comparison to last year, said Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu.

Presenting the annual crime report at a media conference at his office in Hanamkonda on Thursday, Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu said, “While 423 people died in 394 road accident cases last year, 389 people lost their lives in 369 fatal accident cases this year.”

The overall crime rate against women has also come down by six per cent in 2017 compared to the last year. “The dowry murder cases have come down by 50 per cent, murder of women has decreased by 10 per cent,” Babu said and added that the cases of rape had also come down by 12 per cent and outrage of modesty cases had come down by six per cent.

“In a major achievement, the Central Crime Station (CCS) team arrested three house burglar gangs comprising eight persons and recovered 1,360 gm of gold, 4.825 kg of silver ornaments, one laptop, total worth of which is Rs 44,37,000,” he said and added that one dacoit gang headed by Mohammed Biyabani was arrested and recovered 326.5 gm gold ornaments and one auto, three motorcycles worth Rs 13,50,000.

The CCS has also achieved a good percentage of recovery, CCS team detected 165 property  cases pertaining to not only Warangal commissionerate. They have also detected the cases pertaining to other  districts  and other State cases also and recovered 5860.25 grams of gold  ornaments, 14450 Grams of  Silver ornaments, Rs 6,14,500 in cash all worth Rs 2,00,09,300 and the detection of property is increased  compared to the percentage  of  increase  in previous years.

However, there is a sharp increase the robbery cases in 2017. While only four robbery cases were registered in 2016, the number of the same is 15 in 2017. In terms of percentage, it is 73 per cent increase.
