Pocharam urges healthcare workers to extend dedicated services

Nizamabad: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said nearly 85 per cent of the State population depended on State sponsored healthcare services. Healthcare workers need to rise to the occasion and extend dedicated services to the patients visiting government hospitals.

The Minister, who took part in the ‘District Health Review Meeting’ here on Friday, enquired about the implementation of issues being faced by the Asha workers, Health supervisors, Anganwadi supervisors, CDPOs associated with the implementation of different government health schemes.

He said nearly 85 per cent people in the State were poor, they depend upon government healthcare services and they cannot afford corporate hospital services. Each and every health worker should keep this issue in mind and provide quality healthcare services to the people.

But sometimes people were paying price for the negligence of hospital staff. One should question himself to ascertain whether they were performing duties satisfactorily or not, Minister added.

Quoting the Chief Minster K Chandrashekhar Rao, Pocharm said Telangana government’s main aim was to provide better healthcare services to poor and strengthen government healthcare sector. Only the healthcare workers and hospital staff could ensure success of the the move.

He said 1,320 deliveries were performed in government hospitals at Nizamabad district and 972 in private nursing homes; in government hospitals of 1,320 60 per cent were normal deliveries, but in private nursing homes only 10 per cent were normal deliveries and 90 per cent were cesareans.

He asked healthcare workers and Anganwadi workers to provide nutritious food to pregnant woman and hope dthat in future all deliveries should be done in natural way at government hospitals.

District Collector A Ravinder Reddy, ICDS PD Sravanthi, DTCO Dr Sudershan, GGH Deputy Superintendent Dr Prathimaraj, Deputy DMHO Dr Vidya and ICDS supervisors participated in the review meeting.
