Nizamabad sees drastic drop in crime rate, says Commissioner

Nizamabad: Crime rate has dipped drastically in Nizamabad commissionerate compared to the last two years, however, the white collar offences have increased, said Nizamabad Police Commissioner Karthikeya, adding that to control these offences, police is adopting various techniques to offer better services to the people. The Police Commissioner was speaking at a crime review and press meet at the police commissionerate headquarters here.

He said that in 2015 to 2016, 64 and 38 murder cases were registered respectively in the district, but in 2017, only 24 murder cases were registered, which is a 36.9 percent decline in murder cases. Overall bodily offence cases also reduced to 11.02 per cent.

Karthikeya said that there was a 33 per cent decline in robbery cases, 20.5 per cent decline in automobile theft cases, 20 per cent decline in house-breaking cases and 12.5 per cent decline in chainsnatchings. He informed that crimes against women decline by 6 per cent, dowry death came down to 6 cases as compared to 7 and 8 in 2015 and 2016 years, while only 263 dowry harassment cases were registered this year as compared to 305 in 2015.

Karthikeya said that suicide deaths also declined by 32 per cent.
