Minuscule wonder of Telangana’s micro artiste

Warangal Urban: Popular micro artiste from Warangal city Mattewada Ajay Kumar has come up with another wonder by creating a miniature sculpture of Jesus Christ in the eye of a needle. Earlier, Ajay had created a miniature idol of Lord Ganesh in the eye of the needle leaving everyone awestruck.

A goldsmith by profession, Ajay took 14 hours to create the idol of Christ with wax against a micro gold cross in the eye of the needle. He has added a crown and studs to the idol and has applied colours to the minuscule.

Kumar told Telangana Today, “The idea struck me as Christians are going to celebrate Christmas. The height of the idol is 0.95 mm and width is 0.17 mm. We cannot see the idol with naked eye, we need to have special micro lens to see it,” he added.

The master craftsman has also been chiselling idols on matchsticks and ivory. Kumar, who has been practising micro art for more than two decades now, created a world record by making a mini lock with seven levers using gold and also got his name scripted in Limca Book of Records three times.

He has also received several national awards for his craft. He has made many idols with incredible details and received accolades from former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, noted poet Kaloji and Professor K Jayashankar for his astounding talent in creating the miniatures.
