Mancherial: Victim denies attack by Lambadas

Mancherial: Sidam Bheemrao, who was allegedly thrashed by Lambadas, stated that he was attacked by some smugglers of teakwood, suspecting he had shared their act with officials of Forest department. A native of Kolamguda in Indanpalli village of Jannaram mandal, Bheem Rao suspected that one Eluka Ravi and Lachchaiah might have assaulted him, believing that he had exposed their offence to officials of Forest department.

He clarified that members of Lambada community had not thrashed him. He expressed gratitude to cops for admitting him into a private hospital after being man-handled by some unknown persons on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ramagundam CP Vikram Jeet Duggal met the victim on Wednesday. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mancherial.

However, certain ethnic tribals set huts of Lambadas on fire suspecting Bheem Rao was beaten up by Lambadas. They staged a rasta-roko demanding action against the assaulters. They pacified when cops assured to book a case against the offenders and to intensify bandobust and patrolling.

Both Adivasis and Lambadas are at loggerheads for the past two and half months. Aboriginal tribals are demanding deletion of Lambadas from STs, citing discrimination against their wards in government schools and cornering jobs in government sector. Lambadas also started counter protests.
