Karimnagar officials told to get ready for panchayat polls

Karimnagar: Telangana State Election Commissioner, V Nagi Reddy instructed the collectors and police officers of erstwhile Karimnagar district to make all necessary arrangements for the next coming grampanchayat elections. Commissioner conducted a preparatory review with the collectors and police officers of Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagityal and Rajanna-Sircilla at collectorate conference hall here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Nagi Reddy asked the officials to identify polling station in grampanchayats, arrange basic facilities, and prepare village and ward level voters list. He also instructed the officials to select polling staff well in advance and prepare them by giving required training.

Commissioner advised the officials to bringing staff from other districts if there was any shortfall in their respective districts. Keep ballot boxes ready and send requirement proposals if necessary. Returning officers must follow the guideline of election commission while allocating ‘Symbols’ to candidates, he instructed.

Informed that ballot paper should be printed in the districts itself, he directed the officials to print sarpanch and ward member ballot papers in Pink and White colors respectively. Commissioner asked officers to collect the details of printing presses existed in their district and their capacity.

After getting released the guidelines for election, the printing of ballot papers should be started with police security and store them amid tight police protection. Besides NOTA, only seven symbols of the candidates should be printed on each ballot paper, he instructed and added that print another paper if there were more than seven candidates in the competition.
