Jangaon MLA apologises on reservation remarks

Hyderabad: Jangaon MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy urged the Telangana government to provide financial assistance to economically poor families belonging to upper castes for their upliftment.

He denied to have demanded for the removal of reservation for backward or scheduled classes and tribes. He referred to various incidents where he fought for ensuring justice to SCs and STs in his Assembly constituency.

Speaking to mediapersons at the TRS legislative party office on Tuesday, Reddy clarified that he was in full support of reservations for socially backward communities and wanted it to continue in future. He said he had only sought financial support for financially poor families of upper castes. “However, my statements were misinterpreted. I never intended to hurt anyone’s feelings, but if these reports have hurt them, I tender my unconditional apology,” he said at a meeting of the Reddy community in Jangaon.
