Former Adilabad MP pays tribute to mishap victim

Adilabad: Former Adilabad MP Ramesh Rathod and Khanapur MLA Rekha Naik paid tributes to Jithender Rathod, who was killed in a road accident three days back, at his funeral ceremony in Hasnapur village of Utnoor mandal on Sunday. 

Jithender (26), an employee working with an ICRISAT project taken up to tackle malnutrition in tribal Agency areas and Hasan Farooq (38), a mechanic belonging to Hasnapur, succumbed to serious injuries caused to him when the two-wheeler on which he was travelling rammed into a divider at Hasnapur on Friday night.  
Ramesh Rathod said that he would help Jithender’s kin in getting a compensation of Rs 10 lakh and a government job for one of his children. He informed that he had brought the incident to Chief Minister’s notice and would extend all support to the family members of the victim. He told protesters to show forbearance and to come forward to hold consultations with the government over their contentions.  

Amar Singh Tilawat, national working president of All India Banjara Seva Sangh, demanded that the government create a memorial of Jithender by granting Rs 50 crore. He wanted compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the kin of the deceased and alleged that Jithender had lost his life due to Friday’s clashes.

The funerals saw the participation of hundreds of Lambadas belonging to various parts of the district. The participants raised slogans against adivasis and sought justice for the family members of the victim. They requested the government to take steps to bring the current situation to normal and rued that adivasis were targeting them and were damaging their properties.
