Differently-abled people take out rally in Nalgonda

Nalgonda: Differently-abled persons took out a rally from Clock Tower to Ratna Function Hall, which was venue for International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Sunday.

Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukender Reddy flagged off the rally of differently-abled persons at Clock Tower. Later, a meeting was conducted in a function hall.

Nakrekal  MLA Vemula Veeresham, who was the chief guest, said the State government was committed to the welfare of differently-abled people. He asked officials to clear the applications of differently-abled people as early as possible so that they don’t have to make rounds of government offices.

He said the State government had merged Disabled Welfare Department with the Women and Child Welfare Department as per the decision of the Centre. He would bring the issues of differently-abled persons to the notice of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, he added.

Telangana State Forest Development Corporation Chairman Banda Narender Reddy said Chief Minister had increased the pension of disabled persons to Rs 1,500 per month. Orthopedic disability cases were more in Nalgonda district due to fluoride menace, he said and added that Mission Bhagiratha would help find a permanent solution to the problem.

District Collector Gaurav Uppal, District Women, Disabled Welfare and Child Development, officer B P Pushpalatha and others also attended the programme.
