Congress pushed Mahabubnagar into darkness for 60 years: KTR

Mahabubnagar: Minister for Industries, IT and Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao on Monday lambasted the Congress for deliberately pushing Mahabubnagar district into darkness for the past 60 years, and for trying to take credit for the bifurcation of the State in 2014.

The Minister, who undertook a whirlwind tour of the district to participate in various developmental programmes, also agreed to Mahabubnagar MP A P Jithender Reddy’s plea to include Bhootpur, Jadcherla and Mahabubnagar and declare the area as Urban Development Authority. The Minister, who was addressing a public meeting at the Municipal Grounds here, assured that the process would be completed soon.

Earlier, he laid the foundation stones for various developmental works being carried out in and around Mahabubnagar town. He also inaugurated the new campus being constructed for Government Medical College besides inaugurating certain tourist attractions at Mayuri Park, an urban lung space on the outskirts of the town.

A whopping Rs 847 crore is being spent on various developmental works including construction of a by-pass road, development of Mayuri park as a tourist place, construction of new integrated District Collectorate, development of tank bund near Shah Saab Gutta, construction of Kalabharathi (a cultural space) and construction of Medical College.

He also attended the house-warming ceremony of 310 2BHK houses which were inaugurated by the beneficiaries of a housing colony constructed by the government in Christianpally. Another 3,700 houses would be inaugurated within a year, Rama Rao said.

Health Minister C Laxma Reddy and Mahabubnagar MLA V Srinivas Goud also criticised Congress leaders who, they said, were trying to lay block every single developmental initiative being launched by the TRS government in the past three and half years.
