Cabinet sub-committee to monitor World Telugu Conference arrangements

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao constituted a Cabinet Sub Committee to oversee arrangements for the forthcoming World Telugu Conference. The Committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, will have Ministers Azmeera Chandulal, Tummala Nageswara Rao, and K T Rama Rao as members. The committee will monitor the arrangements in coordination with the Sahitya Akademi and other organisations ahead of the five-day event scheduled to commence on December 14.

On Monday, the Chief Minister visited LB Stadium which is the main venue for World Telugu Conference and wanted it to be the biggest attraction for all. He wanted literary and musical programmes at the main venue surrounded with food courts serving Telangana delicacies, book stalls, handicrafts exhibition and archaeological exhibition stalls. He instructed officials to deck up the venue the cut-outs of Telugu literary personalities. He also wanted Telugu film music concert to be organised during the celebrations.

Later, Chandrashekhar Rao reviewed the preparations being made for World Telugu Conference at Pragathi Bhavan. He wanted parallel literary and musical programmes to be organised at Ravindra Bharathi, Ravindra Bharathi Mini Theatre, Ravindra Bharathi Preview Theatre, Telugu University, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Lalitha Kala Thoranam, Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium and LB Indoor Stadium every day. While Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will attend the inaugural programme, President Ramnath Kovind has agreed to participate in the valedictory function which will be held at LB Stadium. He suggested that the police deploy adequate forces for regulation of parking and traffic. On the occasion, a documentary would be made reflecting the lifestyle, attire, culture, arts and festivals of Telangana State and its people.

Srihari, Nageswara Rao, MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, DGP M Mahender Reddy, Sports Authority of Telangana State Chairman Venkateswar Reddy, Principal Secretaries Sunil Sharma, Burra Venkatesham, Sports Authority of Telangana State Managing Director Dinakar Babu, Sahitya Akademi Chairman Nandini Sidhareddy, Secretary Narasimha Reddy, City Police Commissioner V V Srinivas Rao, Cultural Affairs Director Mamidi Harikrishna, Special Secretary to CMO Bhoopal Reddy, OSD Desapathy Srinivas and others were present at the meeting.
