365 welfare schemes taken up in 36 months in Telangana: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: In the last 36 months, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, has taken up an astounding 365 welfare schemes, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao said on Sunday.

Speaking after inaugurating a feeder channel at Ippugudem, the Minister, giving details of various irrigation schemes taken up by the government, said the Kaleswaram project would be providing water for irrigation purposes to Station Ghanpur Constituency. “By January-end, all the reservoirs on the Devadula Lift Irrigation Project should have pump-sets which can be used to supply water. Also, there will be water supply to Ghanpur from Mid-Manair project via Gouravelli project,” he said.

Once this project reaches completion, a total of 1.25 lakh acre would be irrigated. He also instructed the officials to ensure that the pumpsets work throughout the year. “Under Phase-IV of Mission Kakatiya, we have set up a 8.25 km long channel at a cost of Rs 4.45 crore. This has filed 27 lakes to irrigate 2.400 acres,” he said.

As per the contractual agreement, the project has to be completed by September 2018, he said, and instructed the officials to ensure that there was enough water for Yasangi next year.

“The project in Tupakulagudem has been designed by the Chief Minister himself, and we must execute it to perfection. Currently the Devdula project is irrigating six lakh acres,” said Rao.

Speaking to the farmers in the area, he said the State government would provide for 24 hours power supply from January 1. However, he sounded a word of caution and told them to do away with automatic starters for their pumpsets, failing which it could lead to wastage of water.
