Adialbad: Gunti Deekipa, a 12-year-old girl, hanged herself to death when her mother reprimanded her for not completing a task at Hanuman Nagar in Utnoor mandal centre on Friday evening. The incident came to light on Saturday.

Utnoor Sub-Inspector E Sayanna said that the deceased was the daughter of a shepherd Mallesh belonging to Hanuman Nagar. She discontinued her studies and was staying at home.

Deepika took the extreme step as she was dejected when her mother scolded her for not getting milk from a kirana store at around 8 am. Her mother wanted her to buy the packet, but Deepika refused saying it was time for supper. In a fit of rage, the girl killed herself when her mother was not present.

Based on a complaint from Mallesh, a case of suspicious death was registered. Investigation is on.

Nalgonda: Reprimanding his daughter for waking up late in the morning and missing the school bus proved costly for a man in Kondamalleypally when his daughter, upset over the scolding, committed suicide.

Distressed over the father’s reaction, Madagoni Spandana, a Class 10 student of a private school in Devarakonda, hanged herself at her residence at Kondamallepally here on Saturday. She was the daughter of Venkataiah and Lakshmi.

On Saturday, Spandana missed her school bus, which generally arrives at 7 am to pick the students. Her mother, who generally wakes her up, was away in Hyderabad for work related purpose.

When the girl asked her father to drop her at her school on his bike, Venkataiah reprimanded her and told her that there was no need to go to school that day and left for work.

Hurt by her father’s words, Spandana went into her room and committed suicide. When her brother knocked the door after some time but did not get any response, he alerted the neighbours who found her hanging to a ceiling fan after breaking the door open.

Later, the student was shifted to a private hospital at Devarakonda where she was declared brought dead.

Kondamally Police registered a case and took up an investigation.

Father’s debts drive girl to suicide

Mancherial: An Intermediate II year student ended her life by consuming pesticide here on Saturday as she was depressed over her father’s increasing debts at Rallapet, also known as Chakepalli village in Bellampalli mandal three days ago. However, the incident came to light on Saturday.

Bellampalli police said that the deceased, Durgam Akhila, was an 18-year-old student of a private junior college in Mancherial and a native of Chakepalli. She was the only daughter of Durgam Sudhakar, a small farmer.

Akhila breathed her last while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad on November 22. She was upset when her siblings questioned her father over loans to raise different crops and told her family members that she would end her life to reduce their financial burden.

The parents stated that they had spent Rs 2.5 lakh towards her treatment and informed that the pesticide had affected functioning of her key organs and she was battling for her life for over two weeks. They added that their family, which was reeling under severe financial crisis, was devastated following the death of their daughter.
