Time line set for Mission Kakatiya Phase IV in Telangana

Hyderabad: The stage has been set for launch of the Mission Kakatiya Phase IV. The Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao directed the Principal Secretary Irrigation Vikas Raj to ensure that the process for according administrative sanction for rejuvenation of tanks proposed under Phase IV by November 30.

He also directed the superintending engineers concerned in the districts to send their estimates to the Chief Engineer’s office by December 15. By December 31, the entire procedure involved in according administrative sanctions must be completed by all means.

The Minister wanted the Chief Engineer, superintending engineers and the executive engineers to ensure the grounding of every work proposed under the programme in January first week. Government orders (GOs) pertaining to sanction of works should also be issued on time.

The Minister asked the irrigation officials to take the officials to enlist the support of local elected representatives by involving them in grounding of the works.

The minister favoured soil-testing of the lands in the ayacut well before applying the tank silt to soils of land under the tanks covered by Mission Kakatiya phase IV.  To start with 28 irrigation tanks identified in Khammam district were proposed for rejuvenation witth an outlay of Rs 49.75 crores. This will help localisation of an irrigation in 1450 acres of aycaut, he added.
