Telangana: Plans afoot to develop Mancherial town

Mancherial: Peddapalli MP Balka Suman convened a marathon review meeting with local elected representatives, collector and authorities to chalk out a slew of strategies to develop Mancherial town on many aspects here on Tuesday.

The meeting assumed significance as the town was converted into district headquarters of newly formed Mancherial district a year back.  

Mancherial MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao, MLC Puranam Satheesh Kumar, Collector RV Karnan municipal chairperson M Vasundhara, and authorities of civic body, electricity and many other departments took part in the meeting. Participants proposed various steps and creation of basic and new facilities for the convenience of public and for offering recreation to citizens.

Suman opined that the beautification of the town and formation of certain facilities was the need hour with Mancherial becoming centre of new district. He stated that erection of welcoming arches on three directions of the town, development of multiple parks, conventional hall, graveyards and creation of traffic police station for tackling ever growing traffic, community functional halls for Christians and Minorities etc.

Some of the facilities to be created were indoor, outdoor stadium and swimming pool on lands of Bhudan Trust, children’s park, boating facility and walking track at Ramuni Cheruvu, central lighting system, parking spaces in different parts of the town, modern graveyards, vegetable and meat market. Replacement of electric polls with towers and formation of open gym centres, public toilets and betterment of internal roads were also proposed.  

The MP asserted that he would submit the proposals to Information Technology, and Urban Development and Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao and seek funds around Rs 40 crore for taking up the developmental works and creating the facilities. He was confident of securing grants with TRS-led government keen on improving towns of the state. 

Suman further instructed authorities of revenue department to demark permanent boundaries around tanks of the town to prevent encroachments of the water bodies. He told officials of municipality to establish a dump yard and to take steps to address drinking water problem and to bring transparency in rendering services to public.
