Telangana: Leaders of adivasis seek police protection in Adilabad

Adilabad: Leaders of various tribal organisations representing the adivasis demanded action against the attackers who attacked two adivasis on Monday.

U Sanjeev, State general secretary of Adivasi Hakku Porata Samithi regretted that certain leaders of tribal organisations received life threats and sought security from the police. He alleged that leaders Vedma Bojju, Mesram Sekhar, Kanaka Venkateshwar, Kudimetha Tirupathi, Athram Bujang Rao, Kanaka Rama Rao, Ada Hanmath Rao and Kodapa Nagesh were targeted for operating a movement against Lambadas.

“The attacks on our leaders are increasing every day, indicating the jealousy of Lambadas. Recently, leaders of the community met Police Commissioner of Ramagundam and Karimnagar and submitted a memorandum stating that the attackers were even ready to kill adivasis. Monday’s attack on the two tribals is a part of this,” Sanjeev said.

A copy of the representation was submitted to Superintendent of Adilabad, Ramagundam CP, Karimnagar range Deputy Inspector General, Director General of Police and Project Officer of Integrated Tribal Development Agency-Utnoor.
