Telangana Assembly, Council adjourn sine die

Hyderabad: The eighth session of Telangana Assembly was adjourned sine dine on Friday after 16 working days with 69 hours and 25 minutes of working hours. However, the session was not prorogued and is likely to resume work after December 3. The Council was also adjourned sine die.

As announced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao earlier, the session was scheduled to be held for 50 days but due to visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump as well as numerous foreign delegates for the three-day Global Entrepreneurship Summit, the government decided to put the session on hold for a couple of weeks.

“We have decided to give a break to the session as Hyderabad city will host an international event and foreign delegates will be here to participate in it. However, the session might resume anytime after December 3,” said Government Chief Whip Koppula Eeshwar.

The Assembly session was conducted for 69 hours and 25 minutes where 11 Bills were passed and short discussions were held on 11 different topics. The Chief Minister and the Ministers spoke for about 25 hours and 38 minutes. While the ruling TRS members spoke for 13 hours and 27 minutes, the main Opposition Congress was given 12 hours and 22 minutes.

While MIM took 5 hours and 25 minutes of the Assembly, BJP spoke for about 7 hours and 5 minutes. TDP and CPM spoke for 3 hours and 17 minutes, and 1 hour and 56 minutes, respectively. The House was disturbed for about 11 minutes by Congress and BJP together. Similarly, the Council met for 50 hours and 15 minutes during 16 working days.
