Adilabad: Superintendent of Police M Sreenivas said that no permission was given for “Chalo Hyderabad”, a protest to be staged by Adivasis on December, demanding deletion of Lambadas from list of Scheduled Tribes. He was speaking at a meeting with key leaders of Adivasis here on Sunday.

Sreenivas suggested the leaders to follow peaceful methods to air their grievances if any. He said district police mechanism was taking appropriate steps as permission was not accorded for organising Chalo Hyderabad on December 9. Deployment of Police forces would continue in Utnoor, Indervelli and other tribal dominant areas.

The SP asked the leaders to show restraint as steps were being taken to find a solution to the ongoing impasse. He cautioned that those out to disturb law and order would not be spared and protests should not impact normal life of general public at any cost. The superintendent of police informed that police department would run coaching centres for helping tribal youth in securing posts of police constables to be filled soon. A total of 17,000 constables are going to be recruited in short future, he added.

Adivasi leaders Vedma Bojju, Kanaka Ramarao, Arka Khammu, Mesram Durgu, Marapa Bajirao, Purka Bapurao,  Mesram Gangaram, Naitham Balu and Pandurang were present.
