Nalgonda police acquires two drones for surveillance

Nalgonda: The district police has acquired two drones at a cost of Rs 4 lakhs to keep an eagle eye on areas where illegal activities are taking place and are difficult to reach in a rush should the need arise.

These drones would have the capacity to continuously fly for two hours and send live video to its screen with the operator. They can also fly to a maximum height of 500 meters.

According to sources, with the help of these UAVs, the Nalgonda police department will be able to keep a check on illegal activities like gambling in scheduled places and ganja sale. The Police were going to use them on a hillock as they have received information that it has become a place for gambling in the town and also selected places where ganja was being sold by ganja peddlers to the addicted persons. Primarily, the two places were selected to tap an eye using drone cameras.

In addition to this, the drones would be using for surveillance during the processions and meetings of the VIPs in the district.  Selected policemen have been trained to operate these drones.
