Mahabubnagar student loses both hands in suicide bid

Mahabubnagar: An Intermediate second-year BiPC student attempted suicide by lying on the railway tracks in Mahabubnagar town on Monday morning. She lost both her hands and sustained severe injury to her head.

The student, L Kalpana (17), a resident of Vemula in Moosapet mandal, is studying in Shraddha Junior College in Mahabubnagar. She left a suicide note stating that she was taking the extreme step due to problems in her family. She also apologised to her parents for her decision.

She was immediately taken to Mahabubnagar Government Hospital. She was referred to Osmania General Hospital, but was admitted to SVS Hospital in Mahabubnagar where her condition was out of danger and was also responding by Monday evening.
