Karimnagar Smart City, Team Up sign MoU for citizen friendly services

Karimnagar: Karimnagar Smart City Corporation Limited of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation (KMC) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Team Up, a startup group of Sree Chaitanya Engineering College. The MoU was signed by the representatives of corporation and startup in the presence of the district collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Shashanka and the college management.

A group of young engineering students, who initiated Team Up, have designed the citizen friendly app to make available the facilities such as security, tourism centers, transportation including autos, entertainment, education centers and others within the limits of the smart city area.

District Collector, Sarfaraz Ahmed released the promo of App at Sree Chaitanya Engineering College.  Addressing the students, he said that the gap between classroom and the field should be reduced so that the practical experience of these students will enable students to effectively solve social problems.

Advising the students to think differently with innovative technical skills, he opined that the design of smart water meters and digital control system of the street lights could ease out the burden on the municipal corporation.

The smart city concept conceived by the Central government is to bring technology within the reach of common man, he observed.

City Commissioner, K Shashanka said smart city is nothing but enabling smart, sensible and responsible people to use technology in day-to-day life. The use of technology can arrest malpractices in various departments and also ensure transparency and quick disposal of citizens’ requirements, he said.

College secretary M Ramesh Reddy, director Dr B Madhusudhan Reddy, principals Dr Venkateshwarlu and Dr Prasad Raju, staff and students participated in the event.
