Irrigation facility up to last acre of Musi ayacut: Jagadish Reddy

Nalgonda/Suryapet: The Minister for Power and SC Development G Jagadish Reddy on Thursday said the State government was firm on ensuring irrigation facility up to the last acre of ayacut under Musi Project.

Speaking after releasing fish seedlings in Musi Project, Jagadish Reddy reminded that Musi Project was neglected by successive governments that had impacted the interests of the ayacut farmers. He pointed out that the damaged crust and regulatory gates of the project were replaced with new gates by the State government to check the water leakage. In addition to this, the State government has also sanctioned Rs 65 crores for modernization canals of Musi Project.

He said that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken up several measures for the revival of the caste based profession with aim to make the villages as self sufficient. At the same time, the State government has focused on providing basic amenities and develop required infrastructure in the villages.

He informed that 19 lakh of fish seedlings would be released in Musi Project for the benefit of fishermen. Reminding that 209 village tanks were identified for release of fish seedlings in the district, he told that one lakh fish seedlings would be released in each village tank.

Earlier, the Minister has also inspected the BC Residential School at Bopparam village and instructed the officials to speed up the construction works of the school building. He has also assured to provide road facility and lighting facility at the school.

During his whirlwind visit on in Suryapet district on Thursday,  Jagadish Reddy has also laid foundation stone for repairing works of distributor canal: 5 of Musi project at Endlapally village in the district.
