Faction politics out in the open in Narayanpet

Mahabubnagar: Group politics within the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) are out in the open in Narayanpet Assembly constituency where one faction has even gone publicly against MLA S Rajender Reddy.

Followers of Shiva Kumar Reddy, TRS District Secretary, allege that Raja Reddy, MPTC from Koilkonda mandal, was verbally abused by Rajender Reddy at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a water purification plant held at Kotlabad village a couple of days ago. His followers allege that Ravinder Reddy and Venkateshwar Reddy, who are the MLA’s brothers, along with PACS chairman Srinivas Reddy, physically assaulted the MPTC at the event. A complaint was also lodged with the District Superintendent of Police.

Similar complaints have also been pouring in from Shiva Kumar Reddy’s followers in the recent past, as they say that the MLA has been resorting to intimidation tactics to force them to be on his side and that they were being sidelined in the constituency.

The political storm has been brewing ever since Shiva Kumar Reddy, who contested 2014 elections on a TRS ticket, lost with a margin of 1,200 votes to S Rajender Reddy who had contested on TDP ticket and then joined the ruling party.

Followers of Shiva Kumar Reddy, who claim to have been with TRS since its inception, say that the TDP cadre who joined TRS party after elections were being given importance by the present MLA, while they were being sidelined from the party and were not even getting any contracts.

“I was recently charged under forgery and was arrested on a complaint by the MLA because I had forwarded a whatsapp message which listed all the candidates who were joining the Congress party along with Revanth Reddy,” Hansraj, TRS Town Secretary, Narayanpet, told Telangana Today.

The followers of Shiva Kumar Reddy are appealing to the party’s high command to probe into the matter and take disciplinary action against people harming the TRS party’s reputation in the constituency.
