Examine feasibility of providing loan component to minorities: KCR

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao directed the officials to examine the feasibility of providing loan component for minorities under self-employment scheme without involving the banks. While he entrusted Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiam Srihari with the responsibility of preparing an action plan for conservation of Urdu language on the lines of Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali has been advised to make arrangements for construction of a Rubath at Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Rajasthan.

The Chief Minister reviewed decisions taken and assurances given in the Assembly during the recent session for welfare of minorities at Pragathi Bhavan on Monday. Various issues pertaining to minorities development were discussed during the meeting. During the Assembly session, many legislators complained to the Chief Minister that though the State government was bearing 80 per cent of the amount provided to minorities as loan subsidy, the banks were not releasing the loan component of 20 per cent. They urged him to find a permanent solution to stop the bank’s menace and reduce their involvement.

Chandrashekhar Rao suggested that the officials of Minorities Welfare department consult their counterparts in SC and ST Welfare department to chalk out an action plan for effective implementation of welfare programmes on the lines of SC and ST Welfare. He wanted the officials to complete recruitment of 66 Urdu officers within 40 days. Instructions were given to make arrangements to enable candidates appearing for all job recruitments by the State government and affiliated public sector companies to attempt written examination in Urdu language.

To ensure that students do not fall into the trap of bogus educational institutions for overseas education, the Chief Minister asked the officials concerned to obtain a list of accredited and approved educational institutions in foreign countries and hand over the list to students who are seeking monetary support under Overseas Scholarship Schemes. He also wanted the authorities to prepare a list of measures to be taken for strengthening the Minorities Finance Corporation, Urdu Akademi and Wakf Boards as well as initiate measures for protection of lands belonging to these institutions. “All the district collectors have been instructed to identify lands belonging to any of these institutions and initiate conservation methods,” he said.

Besides the Deputy Chief Ministers, MLAs Akbaruddin Owaisi, Shakeel, Telangana State Wakf Board Chairman Md Saleem, Government Advisor AK Khan, Principal Secretary for Minorities Welfare Umar Jaleel, Principal Secretary for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Navin Mittal, TS Minorities Finance Corporation Managing Director B Shafiullah, TSSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Raghuma Reddy, Secretary to CMO Smitha Sabharwal, Special Secretary to CMO K Bhoopal Reddy and Hyderabad District Collector Yogitha Rana participated in the meeting.
