Congress projects made 24-hour power supply possible: Uttam Kumar

Suryapet: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday claimed that 24-hour power supply to the agriculture sector had become possible only due to the power projects taken up by the earlier Congress government.

Speaking at a meeting with party members at Huzoornagar in Suryapet district, Reddy had criticised TRS leaders for allegedly trying to spread false propaganda saying 24-hour power supply became possible only with the TRS government. The projects taken up by the earlier Congress government facilitated the current government to ensure round-the-clock, he claimed.

He also alleged that the government had failed to implement its promise of three-acre land to landless Dalits and added that it had also failed to ensure minimum support price to crops. He also ticked off the State government for waiving crop loans of the farmers in a phased manner, which, he said, did not benefit farmers. He also asked the farmers to bring to his notice if the interest of their crop loans was not waived along with the loan amount and assured to raise the matter in the Assembly.

Exuding confidence that the Congress would come to power in the State in 2019 elections, the TPCC chief had promised that the Congress would waive up to Rs 2 lakh of crop loans for each farmer if voted to power. In addition to this, special initiatives would be taken up to ensure MSP of Rs 5,000 for cotton per quintal, Rs 10,000 for mirchi and Rs 2,000 for corn. He also assured Rs 3,000 unemployment incentive to the jobless youth after coming to power.
