CM KCR working to remove word ‘dry land” from history of Telangana

Nalgonda: The Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was working with a comprehensive plan to remove word of ‘dry land area’ in the history of Telangana state by taking up several irrigation projects, told the Minister for Power and SC Development G Jagadish Reddy.

Irrigation department has conducted a workshop at Miryalaguda with the farmers of Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) left canal ayacut to discuss the schedule of water release for Rabi season.

Speaking at the meeting, Jagadish Reddy said that the Chief Minister was striving to ensure irrigation facility to even last acre of agricultural land in the state since after taking the reins of the state administration.  Predicting the earlier situation of hardship in getting water to left canal from Nagarjuna Sagar Project(NSP) due Almatti Project in the upper area, the state government has decided to take up a plan to link Musi waters with NSP left canal. Medigatta project was also going to come a life line for agriculture in Telangana state. Plans were prepared by the state government to ensure irrigation facility to two crops and make ‘dry land” was a non-existing word in the history of Telangana with speedy completion of irrigation projects, he added.

Stating that the Chief Minister has through idea on the situation of the agriculture in the area, he reminded that the pada yatra of KCR  from Kodad to Haliya, which was taken up during Telangana agitation, was covering ayacut area of the NSP left canal. He has made it clear that the farmers located from the area of fist major Rajavaram to last major Mukthyala can taken up the cultivation in two crops. He has also announced to personally tour in the area soon.  He pointed out that irrigation facility was provided to ayacut under NSP left canal was provided for crop crops in the last three years.

Reminding that Andhra area  has got the water from Nagarjuna Sagar Project in the united Andhra Pradesh on the pretext of the drinking water requirement, the Minister has stated that Telangana government, now, used the same trick and getting the water from NSP to save the crops of the farmers for the last three years.

“At the same time, the farmers taken up cultivation in Khammam district depending on NSP left canal no need to worry.  All the arrangements were complete to extend irrigation facility to the farmers in systematic and scientific way. The people should cooperate with the government and designs- discharge of the water. There is a need to involve the elected representatives in the decisions of release of water from the projects”, he maintained.

The Minister has also told that the state government was giving top priority to the matter of drinking water in designing and construction of irrigation projects. He has also underlined the need to use the water preciously.

He has also assured that Irrigation department would also conduct a seminar on the issues regarding lift irrigation schemes. Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukender Reddy, Miryalaguda MLA N Bhasker Rao, Nalgonda district Collector Gaurav Uppal, Suryapet district Collector K Surendra Mohan and officials NSP, Irrigation department were also attended the workshop.
