Agri institution to come up soon in Siddipet

Siddipet: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said they would soon set up Soil Testing Centre, Oil Seeds Research Station and Seed Producing Plant in Siddipet district.

Addressing students after inaugurating newly constructed separate hostel buildings for boys and girls at Agriculture Polytechnic College in Thornala of Siddipet district, the Minister said they would also set up District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centre (DATTC) soon in the district to help farmer fraternity.

To address the shortage of labour, Reddy said they would soon distribute maize harvesters to farmers at a subsidy price. Talking about employment opportunities available for the students pursuing Agriculture Polytechnic, he said they could aspire to become Agriculture Extension Officers at the age of 18 since the government was planning to issue multiple notifications to recruit AEOs.

Underlining the importance of participation of educational institutions in bringing the change in society, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao had called upon faculty and students to work closely with farmers and district agriculture officials to make agriculture profitable. The Ministers presented ex gratia to the family members of farmers, who committed suicide and those lost their crop.

MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Rajamani Murali Yadav, Housing Corporation Chairman Bhum Reddy, Collector P Venkatrami Reddy and others were present.
