2BHK house allocations: Five pc quota for differently-abled on the cards

Hyderabad: The State government is planning to give five per cent reservation to differently-abled persons while allocating 2BHK houses, Chairman for physically challenged cooperative society K Vasudeva Reddy said here on Wednesday.

Speaking to mediapersons he said after the implementation of Rights of persons disabilities Act more 14 types of differently abled persons came under it and the total number of differently abled category has increased to 21 and the number was 20 lakhs in the State.

Reddy said the State government has decided to conduct international physically challenged day on December, 3 in a befitting manner. “The Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao wanted to involve physically challenged persons in making of Bangaru Telangana,” he said. Mentioning about the event details Reddy said sports will be conducted in all districts and State level besides distributing of 465 motor bikes to disabled students and laptops.

“To conduct sports in all 31 districts the government has released Rs 1 lakh to each district,” said Joint Director, Physically challenged and old age welfare department B Shaileja.adding that awareness campaigns would also conducted in all district on new Act.
